Learning Management System (LMS) is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, and delivery of educational courses, training programs, or learning and development programs.
Learning Experience Platform (LXP) is a newer term by comparison. It’s a platform where content is both curated and aggregated for personalized learner experience along with the features of the LMS.
Can the LXP Really Replace the LMS?
A recent LMS trend poll conducted by Brandon Hall found that over 58% of the companies surveyed said they were looking to replace their LMS with a corporate learning tool that would better meet their business needs and objectives.
According to studies(Rapid Learning Institute), modern Learners prefer skimming than reading, 94 percent prefer module less than 10 min in duration, 65 percent said most online training modules contain too much information, and they are so deeply affected by technologies especially from their every day visited platforms like Netflix, Facebook and youtube.
And as a result of that, they prefer to deal with platforms with familiar user experience and interface and here is where the Learning experience platform comes in, LXP can provide a learning experience that has many of the features they expect to see in evry platform they use, starting with the interface design to the content recommendation to the social profiles, newsfeed and social learning to the gamification and microlearning.
Here at Innovito we followed all of that when we developed “Evolve” our full featured LXP for companies in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the Gulf region with all of the features in an LMS but adding to it social learning experience that is familiar to the learner where he can share, view and follow his peers, all through an interface that is easy to use and to the point, easy access to any assigned courses that can be in any format like videos, text, links, files, SCORM, HTML courses or 3rd part libraries.
